“I am fascinated by abstraction, three-dimensionality, motion, luminescence, color, shadows and reflection -- water in motion or in any state is my favorite subject. I am drawn to closeup details of nature. I do abstracts less often. I work outside at home on compositions sometimes started elsewhere, using photographs as a beginning reference. Oil painting is my medium, or rarely, acrylic. I like to work slowly until I have surprised myself and am satisfied that the details of the painting are mind-catching. In the end, I may have arrived at something of the effect I originally intended, or spectacularly achieved the goal toward which I originally set out.”

I was born in Oregon and spent my early years playing on Oregon coast beaches, but have lived most of my life in California. I began painting in the early 1990’s and am largely self-taught, learning from my artist colleagues, and in art classes and workshops in the San Francisco Bay area, mostly at the College of Marin.

Exhibits
I participate each year in Marin Open Studios and in juried and invitational group exhibits in the Bay Area. Galleries where I often have had paintings include the Marin Society of Artists Gallery, the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in Novato, and San Francisco Women Artists Gallery in San Francisco. I have had a number of solo shows in Marin County was selected as a finalist in International Artist magazine several years ago, and for a number of years now have been juried into American Art Collector.
