Gravity of Grace is an exploration of the foundational weight required to support a state of spiritual and mental openness. It challenges the notion that “grace” is an entirely weightless or ethereal concept.
The lower third of the canvas is anchored by a dense, mineral-rich deposit of burnt umber and oxidized sienna—a “sediment of experience.” This heavy, textured base represents the “gravity” of our history, our physical reality, and the accumulated lessons of the past. It is the unshakeable bedrock of the psyche.
Rising from this grounded depth is an expansive, atmospheric horizon of ivory and pale cerulean. This transition suggests that clarity and grace do not exist in a vacuum; they are anchored by the weight below. The piece posits that the spirit can only drift into these airy, expansive heights because it is tethered to a solid internal foundation. It is a visual meditation on the necessity of being grounded in order to truly be free.
