About The Artist

Biography

Fran Hall graduated from Seattle University in 1958 with a B.A. in Education and has been a school teacher. Fran has been painting since the 1960ƒ??s. Some of her paintings hang in the homes of many friends from San Francisco, Portland and Seattle to Barcelona, Madrid, Hamburg and Marseilles, places Fran has lived and painted in the past. Her impressions of the many locations she has visited or resided in are included in this show. The style of the paintings exemplify a changing perspective of colors and compositions over the years.
Fran was trained by accomplished artists in Lake Oswego, Oregon; Bellevue, Washington; and Marin County. Her painting was interrupted for 22 years, during which she founded, incorporated and ran the American International Youth Student Exchange Program, of which she was executive director from 1981 to 2002. During these years, she supervised the exchanges of more than 4,000 foreign students to
the United States and 1,500 or more American high school students to most European countries, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan and Korea, as well as several South American countries, Canada, Mexico, Turkey and Israel. For four years in the early 1990ƒ??s, with the backing of a federal grant, she was able to bring some 120 students from 12 countries of the former Soviet Union to spend a year in the
United States.
For the last 25 years Fran has lived and painted in Spain, Italy, France and other European countries. The scenes which she has painted are from places she visited and wished to commit to permanent memory, especially from California to the Mediterranean. Fran specializes in landscapes, seascapes and florals. The
late Beverly Sills, the retired opera star, had one of Franƒ??s floral paintings, ƒ??Daisies.ƒ? Although most of her work are oil paintings, she has recently added watercolor to her portfolio. Fran is linked professionally with the Marin Society of Artists, Society of Western Artists, and the Landmark Art and Garden Center Art Guild in Tiburon. A member of the National League of American Pen Women, Fran exhibited in their juried show at the Gallery of the Marin Society of Artists (July 2009) and at the Marin Civic Center (Nov. 2010 – Jan. 2011). She has also exhibited 25 oil paintings at the
Tiburon Town Hall sponsored by the Heritage and Arts Commission in March-April 2006 and in September-October 2008. She also exhibits at the Landmark Art and Garden Center in Tiburon
