About The Artist

Artist Statement

My passion for arts and crafts began early. In my youth, I loved sketching, painting, sewing, weaving, knitting, crocheting, candle-making, baking, macrame, leather crafts, needlepoint, and on and on.  And then came the next 40 years with college, teaching, family and LIFE … and artwork went on hold.  In 2014, after our youngest left the nest, I discovered both watercolor painting and Cara Brown, a well-known Bay Area watercolorist and teacher, and began painting with Cara and the talented “Magnolias” every Thursday. I have learned so much from this dedicated and supportive group of artists, and we have had many shows at selected locations around Marin County. My personal artistic mission has always been quite simple: Paint scenes that are bright and colorful which bring a sense of joy — thus flowers and gardens and pets are my themes.

Biography

Raised in Marin, I have also lived various years in Switzerland, Spain and Argentina. I have always been a teacher and began my career over 30 years ago. I have taught every grade from Kindergarten through 8th grade – including at Del Mar and Ross Middle Schools in Marin County – until starting our family. For the next years, I stayed home to raise our three kids, and when I returned to teaching in 2007, I decided to work with adults instead of children and never looked back.  I joined the teaching staff at Tam Adult School in Larkspur as an ESL and GED instructor – with a focus on English, reading, writing, Civics and Citizenship.  I retired this past year and miss my students and colleagues but now have more time for painting, volunteering, traveling, and family.
