About The Artist

Artist Statement

Jacknolan Remy’s artistry delves into the fragmented alleys of our memories, probing its inhabitants, voids, and ambiguities. Remy’s art is strikingly visual. Woven in are poetic narratives, where the muted dialogue between what was once clearly articulated, but is now only suggested, becomes fertile ground for interpretation. His abstract works provide a stage upon which new stories unfold. Remy highlights our tendency to remember our chronicles in disjointed pieces by incorporating photographic and document fragments, decoupled from their original contexts. The abstract meets the fractured visuals in his work, inducing contemplation about the reliability of our memories and the narratives to which we cling.

Remy’s works are enigmatic puzzles that draw the viewer into unraveling possible narratives. The intrigue and excitement lie in the numerous perspectives that can be constructed, reminiscent of Kurosawa’s film Rashomon. This interactivity not only deepens the viewer’s engagement but also transforms the artwork into a dynamic narrative shaped by each viewer’s perspective.

Symbolism is central to Remy’s work. Black spacesrepresent mysteriously hidden information, while white spaces signify lost or forgotten details. Documents, photos, and titles act as characters within his narratives, and reflective surfaces invite viewers to become active participants. Handwritten scripts, once meaningful, now appear as illegible words with lost significance.

Venture into Jacknolan Remy’s world where he dares us to immerse ourselves in fragments of memory and become part of the storytelling process. His work celebrates the incomplete, the flawed, the lost, and the transient, exploring the footprints left behind by the relentless march of time. Remy invites us to contemplate the spaces defined by these fragments, and the silent reverberations they emit. Through interpreting, and even exchanging perspectives, we collectively weave a narrative as intricate and multifaceted as memory itself.
