About The Artist
I was born with cerebral palsy that impacted the use of my hands, but this disability didn??t stop me from following my passion and desire to create art. I paint with a headwand – a brush or pen attached to a helmet that allows the movement of my head to negotiate both shapes and pressure.
I create mostly abstract paintings in acrylic to express my love for color combinations and textures.
During my creation, I have to face the constant challenges of asking for help of moving my canvases in the direction I want for the composition. I also have to deal with the limitation of the brush on the helmet on my head and getting the desired color paints out. Even with all these challenges, I enjoy creating and painting. It has to do with my passion to share my spirit and my love for life, however difficult. I??m blessed with this artistic ability.

Mia’s abstract paintings are characterized by dynamic color combinations and varying textures, each alluding to the experimentation Mia allows in her process. Her paintings are informed by her interests, her life experiences, and the natural world, allowing us to access her emotions and spirit through painting.
Mia is currently nationally represented by Artlifting. Artlifiting empowers artists living with homelessness or disabilities through the celebration and sale of their artwork.
