About The Artist
His work explores movement, atmosphere, and the emotional resonance of color through abstract painting. Working with acrylic and alcohol ink, he guides the flow and interaction of pigment through layering, gesture, and careful manipulation of the medium. Music plays an essential role in his process, influencing rhythm, pace, and energy in the work. Through abstraction, he aima to create visual spaces that invite reflection, calm, and personal interpretation.
A self-taught artist based in San Francisco, California, Martin has nurtured a lifelong passion for both the visual and auditory arts, playing guitar and piano for more than half of his life. Through this deep connection to music, he found his way to painting, where every brushstroke is guided by sound. In fact, he never paints without music.
Balancing careers in primary care and mental health, Martin views painting as both a creative outlet and an essential part of a well-rounded life. The studio is a place to slow down, recharge, and explore color, movement, and emotion. Each piece is created with intention while remaining open to interpretation, inviting viewers to connect with the work through their own experiences, emotions, and imagination.
His hope is that these paintings bring a sense of personal connection to others, just as creating them has brought to him.
