This repositionable sculpture serves as a physical manifestation of cognitive reframing—the deliberate act of shifting one’s perspective to find new meaning in a fixed set of circumstances.
Constructed from rigid, ceramic segments joined by intricate copper coils, the work explores the tension between structure and flexibility. Each black pillar represents a “datum” or a core belief. In isolation, these segments are static and unyielding; however, the copper “hinges” represent the cognitive agency we possess to pivot, tilt, and reconfigure our reality.
