My home base is Marin County, California—although I was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee; lived in the Los Angeles area until I was 14; moved to New England where I went to high school and college, started work and a family; and was lucky enough to end up in Northern California as a grown-up. I started oil painting as a teenager (my grandfather was a painter), but only recently began using oil pigment sticks to simultaneously draw and mix paint directly on the canvas. I love the immediacy of diving right in. I am interested in the relationships and movement between things—colors, shapes, forms—and am inspired by the water and landscape I’m surrounded by in my Sausalito studio.
I've been exhibiting in Northern California since 2002, participating in numerous group and solo shows--including the San Francisco De Young Museum Open, Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art and Sonoma Valley Museum of Art. My work has been seen in House Beautiful, the Serena & Lily Catalog, Luxe Magazine, as well as Marin Magazine and San Francisco Magazine. I sit on the ICB Art Association's Board of Directors and am represented by a number of galleries in the Bay Area as well as Boston, Dallas, and Florida.
