Arlene Lewetzow

CORTE MADERA, California

My work is inspired by movement and by music. Attending the Gathering of the Tribes, which takes place every year at Stanford University, has led to a series of paintings. I am moved by the rich and dynamic native American culture; its beauty and mysticism. These themes are woven into paintings that are abstract in concept but grounded in realism.

I am a Native Californian. Born to be an artist. I came to oil painting after a thorough grounding in drawing. My first instructor was Joe Mugnaini at Otis Art Institute. I am indebted to my wonderful art instructors, Jean Henry, Don Hatfield, Carolyn
Anderson and Mark Daily. I am represented by Richardson Gallery in Reno, NV. I recently was awarded first price at Scottsdale Best and Brightest 2016, and First prize at Marin County Fair 2017.
