For me art is a passion. I am interested in translating my experience and vision of the world into art. It is a constant exploration. Discovery keeps me challenged. When creating my pieces I like to experiment with various textures, frequently starting out using mediums and collage. I am inspired by surfaces that show the passage of time, and want to transmit to the viewer the history and time, and the treasures it leaves behind. I keep on reworking the piece until it has finally made a connection with the image I had in my mind. This approach is extremely important: the process itself is as important as the completion of the piece.
I live and work in my studio in San Francisco. I graduated from UC Berkeley and have taught Russian language, literature and culture for many years at City College of San Francisco and the University of San Francisco. I have been pursuing a serious career as an abstract painter for the last fourteen years. I have studied painting with the expressionist painter, Glen Moriwaki, for over four years. I also had the fortune to have also studied with some fantastic artists: Ann Baldwin, Jan Sitts, Bob Burridge, Louise Cadillac, Fran Skiles, Mira M. White and Nancy Hillis.
