With both my abstracts and landscapes, I take an iconic, narrative approach that evolved directly from my previous work. I use essential, minimal shapes to depict the subject, with color and texture suggesting the story. The common theme in all my work is of Transition: I imply a sense of journey - of movement through time and space that ultimately arrives at an unexpected destination for both myself and the viewer. My personal experience of the subject becomes universal, resulting in new perspectives.
I've lived and worked in San Francisco as an independent visual artist since the mid 70's, first as a graphic designer, then illustrator, and now as a fine arts painter. My studio is in the Hunters Point Shipyard and my newest work is abstracted landscapes and cityscapes.
