Andy Skaff Profile Photo

Andy Skaff

Mill Valley, CA

Andy’s love of the cities and landscapes of the West provides the inspiration for his light- filled, vibrant paintings. He began painting as a young man but became a full time artist after retirement. Today his city and landscapes can be found at galleries in Tahoe and San Francisco as well as on his website

Few places offer such varieties of landscape as the American West and few capture its rare beauty as does Andy Skaff in his vibrant, light-filled paintings. Today, Andy most often sets up his easel in the mountains and coastal regions of Northern California and San Francisco, but in the early days of his career studied with celebrated plein air painter Kevin McPherson in the French countryside where the practice of painting in the “open air” became popular with the Impressionists in the 19th century. Andy has been honored with solo shows in San Francisco and Lake Tahoe galleries and has exhibited at the Napa Valley Museum, the Oil Painters of America Western Regional Exhibit in Santa Barbara, and the Yosemite Renaissance semiannual exhibit.
Andy’s paintings are featured regularly in installations at Gump’s San Francisco. The Ritz Carlton Highlands, Lake Tahoe, the Larkspur Hotel Group, Tahoe Forest Cancer Center and Martis Camp have purchased his work for their permanent collections. With a clear eye and bold strokes of the brush, Andy endows his remarkable paintings with all the vivid color, contrast and splendor of the Western landscape and its urban treasures.
