Ellen French,

San Anselmo, CA

I approach my painting intuitively to convey a sense of tranquility and delight with wit full, visionary observations. In the end I hope to stretch the viewer’s imagination by taking them on a journey to look beyond reality. As a painter I alternate between painting visionary landscapes/still life to non-figurative abstractions. My abstract paintings emerge from a process of self reflection. Using minimal composition, juxtaposed with color, line and texture my intention is to take the viewer on a meditative journey. My landscape/still life paintings, emerge from the observed and imagined. I use bright colors, light and line to convey a mystical and lighthearted quality to stretch the imagination.

I am a native Californian and I have been exhibiting and selling my artwork for over 30 years. I have artwork in numerous corporate, private, and hospitaltiy collections, including the U.S. State Department, the Pentagon, and the Makuhari-Messe Convention Center in Toyko, Japan, and the Hawaiian Village in Honolulu.
