Charles Mize

San Rafael, CA

He believes that if you take a moment to be present, wherever you may be in life or in the world, you can share in the awe of what it means to be experiencing life. His latest work is a testament to how our immediate environment has everything awe-inspiring to offer... from textures to colors, lines and emotions all captured from his love of meandering in nature as he navigates his life's canvas and the canvas of the world around us.

A Marin County Native from Mill Valley and the youngest
of eight, Charles was granted more freedom than his siblings. With this liberty to do as he pleased, the world quickly became his canvas. His talent as an artist has been recognized throughout his life and started at a very young age.
He received his award from the San Francisco Chronicle at the age of three for his depiction of a Christmas scene as part
of a children's art contest. He was also honored with the highest award in Fine Arts from Redwood High School.
After living on the Galapagos Islands, Colombia and traveling throughout South America, Charles returned to
San Francisco to open his own commercial art studio.
He collaborated with various ad agency's, retailers,
manufacturing companies and banking institutions.
Many professional photographers utilized his talents for photo retouching, airbrush illustrations, and design services.

In 1978, a logo design created for a jeweler manufacture from Japan, won him an international DESI award
for creative innovative solutions. In addition, Charles received the prestige San Francisco Cable Award
granted to top talent in both the arts and writing.
Various rock bands and authors have used his services
for retouching and airbrushed embellishments on
promotional materials and album covers.
The rock band, Journey, honored him with a gold album for all of his extensive involvement on many of their projects.

Recently, he has transitioned away from commissioned collaborations and instead focuses primarily on sharing the beauty of the world through his eyes with you.
